There is a firewal setting .. add a rule for NMS.exe I have, I already done this long time ago.. and it still there, both in Avast and Windows Firewall

My boyfriend and I are trying to play No Man’s Sky together - We’re playing on the same wifi network with desks right next to each other, he’s playing on windows 7 and i’m playing on windows 10. When we go into the network settings on his computer it gives a big warning box that says “No connection to matchmaking servers”, however mine does not.

I found a solution: Use a text editor like Notepad++ and open the file GCUSERSETTINGS.XMXL in C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps\common\No Man's Sky\Binaries\SETTINGS or wherever you have the game files installed.
